The kind of thing you forget exists until you see it

Fry's Peppermint Cream is not exciting. That's sort of the point. It's been sitting quietly on British shelves since 1866, doing the same thing: dark chocolate shell, smooth peppermint fondant inside, no fuss. You bite in and it's immediately familiar. Cool, sweet, a little bit intense. The kind of bar you used to find in your nan's biscuit tin next to a Penguin and some loose Werther's.

At 95p for three 49g bars, it's genuinely decent value. Drop to Subscribe and Save and you're at 85p, which is almost silly. Each bar is around 31p. You're not going to find cheaper comfort.

Who this is actually for

If you grew up eating these, you don't need me to tell you anything. You already clicked the link. But if you've never tried Fry's Peppermint Cream, picture a York Peppermint Pattie but thinner, more intensely minty, and with darker chocolate. It's a bit polarising, honestly. People who don't like dark chocolate or strong mint flavours will find it a bit much.

Also worth knowing: these aren't small novelty squares. Each bar is a proper sit-down snack, not just a two-bite thing.

My one reservation is the Subscribe and Save mechanic if you only want a one-off. You'll need to remember to cancel. A mild admin faff, but nothing dramatic. At these prices though, maybe just let it run.
