Who actually needs one of these
Look, I was sceptical. An under-desk treadmill sounds like the kind of thing you buy, use twice, and then hang laundry on. But if you work from home and your daily step count regularly resembles a resting heart rate, the Mobvoi Walking Pad starts making a lot of sense. A mate of mine got one last autumn, stuck it under a standing desk, and walks at about 2 km/h during calls. He's not breaking a sweat, not out of breath, just... moving. That's the pitch, really.
The range has three tiers: Walking Plus, Walking Edge, and Walking Fit, each stepping up in build and features. The Plus is the entry point and honestly, for casual walking pace use, it does the job fine. The Fit adds a slightly more robust motor and better app integration if you care about that sort of thing.
Honest reservations
It's not for runners. Top speed sits around 6 km/h on most models, so if you want a proper cardio session, this isn't it. The deck is also narrower than a standard treadmill, which takes some getting used to. And you do need a proper standing desk setup for this to work comfortably, otherwise you're just walking while hunched over a laptop like some kind of sad mime.
Portability is a genuine plus though. It folds flat and slides away easily, which matters in a smaller flat.
At these price points for Prime members, it's not half bad for what it is. Just be honest with yourself about whether you'll actually use it.
