The bit that actually caught my attention
Nothing has built its whole identity around making budget tech look like it costs more than it does. The Ear earbuds are no exception. That semi-transparent case, the clean white finish, the sort of aesthetic that makes people on the Tube ask what they are. My mate spotted someone wearing them at a coffee shop and assumed they were some premium Sony job. They were not.
But looks aside, what you're actually getting here is active noise cancelling, a bass enhance algorithm (which does what it says, more warmth and thump on bass-heavy tracks), and up to 42.5 hours total listening time with the case. That last number includes case charges, so your in-ear time per session is more modest, but still solid for commuting.
Who this is actually for
If you're after your first proper ANC earbuds and don't want to spend Sony or Bose money, these make a lot of sense. Students, commuters, people who keep losing earbuds and feel bad about it at higher price points.
Who should probably skip them: audiophiles who'll pick apart the midrange, and anyone wanting a bone-solid app ecosystem. Nothing's app is fine, not exceptional.
Honestly, my one real reservation is the ANC itself. It's competent, not class-leading. On a noisy bus it takes the edge off rather than creating silence. For the price that's fair enough, but worth knowing before you expect miracles.
At under fifty quid, these are not half bad. Spot on for the commuter who wants to look sorted without the premium price tag.
