What you're actually getting
The Gold Edition isn't just the base game. It includes Separate Ways, the Ada Wong story chapter that's actually a proper meaty addition, not the kind of DLC you forget exists. If you missed RE4 Remake when it launched in 2023, this is the version to get. No question about it, personally.
The game itself is brilliant. Capcom took a 2005 classic and rebuilt it almost from scratch without losing what made it special. The village section alone, all flickering torches and pitchfork-wielding locals, is still one of the tensest openings I've played in years. It looks fantastic on PS5 too, smooth as anything.
Who this is for, who it isn't
If you're already a horror fan and you've somehow not touched this yet, stop reading and just buy it. At under £16 for the Gold Edition it's a no-brainer.
If you're squeamish about body horror or find resource management stressful, it might not be your thing. It's not a walking sim. You will die, you will scramble for ammo, and a giant with a chainsaw will ruin your evening at some point.
Also worth knowing: this is a physical disc copy based on the listing, so make sure your PS5 actually has a disc drive. The slim digital model won't play it.
The catch
There's no listed "was" price to anchor this against, so I can't tell you exactly how much you're saving. But £15.95 for this package is proper good value by any measure. Community heat of 994 degrees on HotUKDeals backs that up. Stock won't hang around.
